Equipment Quality Control Spring 2024

Equipment Quality Control Spring 2024

Pre-season maintenance sets the stage for successful soil moisture monitoring throughout the growing season. By investing time and effort in checking and preparing your AquaSpy equipment, you’ll reap the benefits of accurate data, efficient irrigation, healthier crops, faster installs, and more happy customers.

Charge your CTs

Turn all CTs on and set them in the sun for at least 4 hours to charge the battery. The CT power button must be in the “ON” position for solar charging to occur. During this time the CT will also have a chance to automatically download and install any pending firmware updates.  For Crophesy probes, no charging is required.  You can find a complete list of Current Firmware Versions plus many other helpful documents and videos at aquaspy.zohodesk.com.

Clean Probes and Test Cables

Use a damp towel or cloth to clean excess soil and other debris from probes. Then test that the extension cable and all connections are working by plugging the probe into the CT. Power on the CT and wait for the CT to test the probe connection.

Prep Installation Tools

Clean and test all tools used for installation. You’ll also want to make sure you have extra zip ties, hose clamps, and T-posts available.  Other useful tools and accessories to have on-hand for installations include:

5/16" nut driver

Wire cutters

Pliers

Small shovel

Water jug

Paint mixer attachment for drill

2 gallon bucket

Gloves

Lashing Straps

Small sledge or T-post pounder
